Waterloo Regional Police are currently investigating a serious assault which took place in the area of Lester Street and University Ave, Waterloo at around 2:30 am. The victim was in the area when he observed a fight in which a lone male was being assaulted by a group of 10 to 15 dark-skinned males. The victim stepped in to help the lone male and was subsequently assaulted by the group of suspects. The victim suffered serious but non life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he was treated.
